My Pink Moustache-An exercise in charity
Guest post by Josh Kohlbach of Code my own road
You’ve gotta love pink. It’s the most attention getting colour of them all.
Every year in Movember (the month formerly known as ‘November’) I embark on a very hairy mission. You see, even though pink is the colour of breast cancer awareness – with their very recognizable pink ribbons – I used it recently to gain exposure for another form of cancer research as well.
The ubiquitous pink made an appearance on my face. On my “Mo” to be exact!
Every Movember I grow a fancy pants moustache in the name of charity. The Movember Foundation has a number of beneficiaries, the main ones being The Prostate Cancer Research Foundation for furthering research into prostate cancer and Beyond Blue whose goal is to lift the awareness of men’s depression worldwide.
Prostate cancer effects as many men as breast cancer effects women. So when it came time to raising the awareness of this worthy cause I did the only thing a red-blooded male sporting a fresh moustache could do:
I dyed it bright pink.
And then I went out in public.

In fact I went the whole day sporting my pink moustache as proudly as I could, chest puffed up, head pointing towards the sky and a swagger in my walk. I was loud and proud. Along with my work mates we had raised over $4000 dollars in the name of Movember.
Have you donned the colour pink to shine light on a worthy cause? Tell us about it in the comments!
