“A dog owner will be in court Tuesday morning, facing a $1,000 fine for turning her poodle pink.” According to Joy Douglas, her dog Cici is a “breast-cancer awareness dog” that has been showing off her pink coat for thee years now.

Joy plans on fighting the ticket, as she claims the dog is raising awareness for breast cancer.

What are your thoughts on coloring a dog pink with beet juice? Personally I wouldn’t color my dog. I bet Peta wasn’t too happy about Joy coloring her dog pink.

I think dying your dog is cruel. I know that I would not want someone dying my hair without my consent.

Then again this dog does not look too impressed. But would you be if you were a dog dressed as a pig? Piggy pooch dog custume?

Joy certainly is not the first person to color their dog’s hair. In 2005, KellyOsbourne dyed her13 year old bull dog’s fur pink, which angered PETA.

Elizabeth McGee died her poodle Cheri pink. ( Cheri the pink poodle)

LOL This is something that has been around for decades. People use to use hair rinse, which to me, can be harmful. I see nothing wrong with using beet juice to color your dog if you choose to do so. If you worry what the dog thinks, I’ll bet the dog couldn’t care less. My dog has rolled in things that I am sure most would find discusting and no one said a word when I washed it off. I’ll bet the only thing that went through the dogs mind was,’ When do we eat.’

Becky! We will just have to agree to disagree my friend. I think it is cruel. My daughter thinks it is cute and knowing her she would be just the one to color her pooch. lol

A pink poodle. What next? A green aardvark? Nope. Sorry. Anyone who colours their dog is a little nuts. I have a black cat. She is the coolest cat in the neighbourhood. No chance of changing her colour. If she wants to wear pink, she can buy a coat!

So sy that wasn’t your cat in 2005 that went out for a walk in Bratton Clovelly and came home in pink?

Pink Panther is a cool cat. :)

Doesn’t she have the right to do what she want for her pet?

Obviously not. Where she lives it is illegal.

Thanks for commenting on my WW post (and yes on the picking nose comment) :-)

One of the most popular items I sell is a darling pink poodle purse for little girls! I love it!

    But the real thing? Hmmmm…..

I guess it would depend on the dog. My dog would not like to be dyed pink. But, some dogs are pretty layed back and might not care. Hmmmm

My two cents: there’s a law that says you can’t dye your animal, you dye your animal, you broke the law. - you’re not entitled to break the law to make a statement.

and no, you do not have the right do whatever you want with your animal (abuse, neglect, etc).
