I believe that a parent that would be careless enough to leave a gun around their children would just end up endangering or hurting their child in the end anyway even without a gun. It may be not installing a child seat properly, not giving them the correct dosage of medicine, not watching them and letting them fall into a swimming pool, etc…to me its not the child seats fault, its not the medicines fault, its not the swimming pools fault, it goes back to the parents - It’s the parents fault. To me there is absolutely no excuse for leaving a firearm where a young child could access it, I have been shooting for a long time, with many people, and I know none of the fellow shooters I associate with would ever let that happen, ever. But I respect your opinion and I will say I think gun ownership is a responsibility to be taken very seriously.

Jason, but what if the gun is not owned by a true firearms advocate? What if the gun is own by a careless parent who left their gun laying around? How many children have already died to such carelessness? Even the most careful parents can make one mistake. Furthermore these guns are painted pink and resemble toy guns.

I would have to disagree with the original poster. In my opinion the flaw in the argument comes when they say “what if a child picks it up and thinks its a toy”…a true firearms advocate would never let this happen in the first place, so it would not matter if the gun was pink, blue, yellow, silver, gold or any color. I grew up in a military family and I grew up shooting. I now shoot in competitions and for recreation. True firearms enthusiasts always advocate strict firearms safety, and part of that is proper storage. In my opinion we dislike reckless users of firearms even more then the average anti-gun person because they give up a bad name. I would also ask everyone to remember part of what makes our country so special is or freedom.

Eric, I see you were searching "painted guns" in Google.

Eric, It has everything to do with a painted gun. What if a child picks up this painted gun thinking it's a toy and shoots their sibling. Then what?

So what! They may not be mass producing pink Hello Kitty guns, but one should not be painting guns to look like toy guns.

Jim from Jim's Gun Supply has made TWO guns with the Hello Kitty logo on it. That's it. Two. He made the first one because a legal gun owning adult sent their firearm to him and asked for the logo. Jim didn't even know what the logo was until after he made it. The 2nd person saw the picture (legal gun owning adult), and wanted it done for his wife. If this is one of the most stupid things you have ever seen, then talk to the gun owner who requested it be done.
What does a story of a 10 year old boy shooting his sister have to do with a painted gun? Did he use a DuraCoated gun? No he didn't. In fact, there has been no documented cases of Duracoated firearms being associated with juvenile violence.

I've seen it happen before, criminals can't get hold of a real gun will by the fake ones, paint them black and use them in a robbery.

If someone needs a gun that looks like that then they need to evaluated.
Adults think little things like that are humorous, children do not know
any better. The reason so many kids are hurting kids with guns is
because their parents are to lazy sitting on their butts to teach the
kids the dangers that come with them. The guns are never the problem,
it is who's hands they end up in. Nice pink blog here.
